The Central African Republic, as its name suggests, is land-locked in the center of Africa. It borders South Sudan to the east, Sudan to the north-east, Chad to the north-west, Cameroon to the west, the Congo to the south-west and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the south.
Overview
In the Central African Republic, online gambling law has to be understood in context. Right now, they are in the middle of having a lot of major problems that they're having to focus on. Along these lines, it's not really expected for them to change any of their laws regarding play at online gambling sites or the regulation of those sites. With that having been said, it's easier to understand where they're at right now and why it's so hard to guess which way they will go with legislation.
Generally speaking, there are no laws against online gambling in the country, and there are also no regulations for the industry as a whole. However, some tax laws may apply, which you'll read about below.
Licensing
No licensing process is in place in the Central African Republic, and it's unlikely that we'll see one at any point in the next few decades. They are so focused on other issues which are, quite frankly, more important to them like poverty, HIV infection rates and other problems. Because of this, it's not really that likely that online gambling legislation will be that important to their political figures at any point for a very long time.
With this having been said, there have been government documents found that reference a tax on gambling that would come from some sort of government-regulated gambling. While that regulation hasn't come about yet, it's interesting that it would have been mentioned because that means someone in politics was thinking about it when those documents were written. As of the time of this writing, however, there are no regulations in effect.
Player Protections
If you want to play at online gambling sites in the Central African Republic, then you're more than welcome to. However, you will get no protection from the government, and this provides players with a larger incentive than usual to play with online gambling sites that have a strong reputation. On the plus side, there are no laws against online gambling, and they don't seem to really care too much about trying to police the industry at all from the player side.
