Overview

Anjouan is the main island of the Comoros Islands when it comes to online gambling regulation, and they are where all of the "magic" happens. This jurisdiction is fairly well-known in the online gambling world, and unfortunately, it's not always for the best of things. The Betting and Gaming Act of 2005 in this country put the Anjouan Corporate Services Ltd. in charge of handling licenses and everything to do with the industry, but their lax rules and lack of enforcement has turned their process into little more than a rubber stamp that does little to assure players of their legitimacy.

Licensing

The licensing process for virtual gaming licenses by Anjouan Corporate Services for the Comoros Islands consists of a fixed free charged each year. This means that no matter how big or small your operation, you pay the same amount. What's interesting is that your servers do not have to be located in the Comoros Islands, and they can really be anywhere in the world that you want. You also have the option to run your profits through Anjouan banks that are located abroad. The only real limitation on who can get this type of license is that the company has to be from Anjouan. Aside from that, you can run any type of online gambling with as many brands, websites or entities as you want all under the same license.

It's important to note that this last point puts players in a position where they might play with one shady company, get burned, and then turn around and play at another site owned by the exact same company without knowing it. This is one of the problems with having this type of endless usage of the same license.

Player Protections

Let's be frank: There are no real player protections when playing at a site that is licensed by Anjouan Corporate Services. They have a long history of offering no real way for players to place complaints, and so many shady gambling sites have a license here that it's become a liability for any legitimate online gambling destination to be licensed in the Comoros Islands. The reputation of this jurisdiction is among the worst in the world, and that's unfortunate because they could be great if they would enforce the policies that they have in place.
