Poland is located in eastern Europe. It borders the Baltic Sea to the north, Lituania to the north-east, Belarus to the east, Ukraine to the south-east, Slovakia to the south, the Czech Republic to the south-west and Germany to the west.
Online gambling in Poland is illegal except for sports betting. Overall, they have a pretty ineffective system in all aspects of how it operates because there's no enforcement on the ban itself, and the terms of the licensing are such that major operators tend to stay away from it with only two or three operators running online sports betting operations in the country at this time.
The fact of the matter is that Poland doesn't really seem to care. Their entire approach to how they handle the industry is ineffective and essentially serves no purpose. They would do much better for both the players and the government to regulate the industry or at least put forth some kind of measure to enforce the laws that they have on the books already.
The only type of online gambling licensing that they offer is for sports betting, and they charge very high fees for this license. Along these lines, they only have a couple of operators serving players in the country. Aside from that, the processes are already in place for regulating online gambling sites, and it wouldn't be that difficult for them to open things up and regulate the industry on a larger scale. For some reason, they've decided not to do that so far.
For licensed sports betting operations, there seem to be a reasonable amount of player protections in the country. For as hands-off as they seem to be about regulating the larger industry as a whole, they do seem to take their licenses pretty seriously, and this includes player complaints that can easily be escalated through their equivalent of a control board.
As for playing with foreign operators, it's not hard to do from Poland, but it is illegal, and there are obviously no player protections for these activities. Because of the overwhelming lack of enforcement of these laws, however, other forms of online gambling besides sports betting are relatively popular in the country.
