Casino Pharaoh

Located at the confluence of the rivers Rhone and Saone, in the department of Rhone and the region of Rhone-Alpes is the town of Lyon. Locals are called Lyonnais. Art enthusiasts will enjoy their large collection of French paintings found in the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. The casino offers 259 classic and video slot machines coming in various denominations starting as low as one cent. Be sure to use your Players Plus card while playing. The casino and slots are available from 10 am to 4 am daily. For table games, there’s Battle, Ball 2000 (5 EUR min), English roulette (5 EUR min), and blackjack (10 EUR min). Table games start at 8:30 pm, as does the poker room. Beginning at 10 am, look for breakfasts within the casino (along with other meals), and a bar.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site. Perhaps 2 minutes from the casino, you can find the 4 star Hotel de la Cite, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. Room types include classic and executive, and total 164. Views are either of the Parc de la Tete or of the Rhone. The hotel has both a restaurant and bar, and free wireless internet access is available in rooms and public areas.

Dining

Enjoy lunches and dinners in Restaurant of the Valley, open noon until 2 pm and 7 pm until 10:30 pm (11 pm Fridays and Saturdays). Look for menu items like smoked salmon appetizers, foie gras and fish entrees, and lemon sorbet desserts. Complement your meals with gourmet coffee or champagne. La Scene serves breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and is located on the casino floor.

Attractions/NightLife

There’s the bar in the hotel, casino, and plenty in town. Enjoy your favourite cocktails and light snacks on the terrace of Backstage Bar. Alibi is open daily from 10:30 pm until dawn. Opt for retro music in La Grange au Broc. Le First runs themed evenings. La Clef de Voute hosts over 150 concerts a year. Find cold beer and drink out on the terrace in Gonzo Bar. The city has an outstanding number of museums, so you won’t have any problems when wanting to explore local history and culture. Start your day in Place Bellecour, 4th largest square in France. Find an equestrian statue of Louis XIV in the centre, and nearby, the Place Atonin-Poncet, Place des Jacobins with its fountain, and Town Hall with the Bartholdi Fountain. Stroll through Parc de la Tete d’Or, largest city park and 1st urban park in France, with its lake, zoological park, and rose garden. For religious sites, try the Notre-Dame de Fourviere Basilica, dating back to 1872, located on Fourviere Hill.
